Parents Name Twin Babies After Coronavirus And Covid 19

An Indian couple have welcomed twin babies and named them after the deadly coronavirus that has taken the globe by storm.

The couple who hail from Chhattisgrah in India have named their new twin babies after the global pandemic Corona (girl) and Covid (boy).

According to the couple, the names given to their babies will remind them about their hardship that they overcame during the lockdown.

Preeti Verma, who is 27 years old and the mother of the babies said;

“I was blessed with the twins, a boy and a girl, in the early hours on March 27. We have named them Covid (boy) and Corona (girl) for now. The delivery happened after facing several difficulties and therefore, me and my husband wanted to make the day memorable”, she shared.

“When the hospital staff also started calling the babies as Corona and Covid, we finally decided to name them after the pandemic. Indeed the virus is dangerous and life-threatening but its outbreak has made people focus on sanitation, hygiene and taken up other good habits. Hence , we thought about these names”, she stated.

However, despite the desire to make a memorable day of the birth of their twins, the couple were faced with one major challenge before the birth of the babies.Verma shaded more light on this challenge.

“On late night of March 26, I suddenly experienced severe labour pain and somehow my husband arranged an ambulance operated under 102 Mahtari Express service, as no vehicular movement was allowed on roads due to the lockdown. We were stopped by the police at various places but they let us go after noticing my condition”, Ms Verma narrated.

Ms. Verma added that she was wondering what will happen in the hospital as it was midnight, but fortunately the doctors and other staff were very cooperative.
