I Really Regret Playing In The 2008 African Cup Of Nations – Asamoah Gyan

Former Sunderland striker and former captain of Ghana Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has revealed that he really regrets playing in the 2008 African Cup of Nations.

Asamoah Gyan made this statement on GTV’s Sport Highlight Show.

“I regret playing at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, because I was injured but I felt I needed to sacrifice but yet I was criticized”, Gyan said.

According Asamoah Gyan, playing in the Nations Cup tournament increased his injury which denied him a move to Manchester City.

“I really regret playing in the tournament because even after that I had to go out for five months when I was supposed to sign for Manchester City but I missed. That has been one of my biggest regrets with the national team”, he disclosed.

Asamoah Gyan scored a lone goal during that tournament which was a penalty in the opening game against Guinea.

Asamoah Gyan however is one of the African top goal scorers with 8 goals with a total of six African Cup of Nations features.
