No Genre Can Stop High Life – Bisa Kdei Reveals

High life artiste, Bisa Kdei, has stirred massive controversy by claiming that no genre of music can push original Ghanaian highlife music into extinction.

He said that though other genres of music continue to spring up, most of the high life artistes including himself will continue to work to raise the flag of highlife.

Bisa Kdei speaking to Amansan Krakye in an exclusive interview on Radio Central, made the following remarks about the fate of highlife music in Ghana.

“Everyone is doing marvelous works and contributing their quota to sustain highlife music in Ghana. I remember the last time you interviewed me, we spoke about highlife music at length.

“Right now more people are getting involved in doing their best to ensure that high life gets to the next level.

“So what I will say is that the state of highlife music in Ghana is moving steadily well and highlife will continue to live forever”.

High life is a music genre that originated in present-day Ghana early in the 20th century, during its history as a colony of the British Empire.

Last year, some critics were mocking highlife artistes for not being up to the task after Shatta Wale who is a dancehall artiste won the highlife song of the year with his song titled ‘My Level’ at the VGMA.
