Coronavirus: President Akufo-Addo Lifts Partial Lockdown In Accra, Kumasi, Kasoa, Tema

President Nana Akufo-Addo has announced that the three weeks lockdown placed on the Greater Accra , Kasoa and Greater Kumasi Municipality has been lifted.

The president made this public announcement on the seventh address of the nation on 19/04/2020, this declaration will be made effective at exactly 1 am of Monday 04/20/2020 .

“The ban placed on the Greater Accra , Kasoa and Greater Kumasi Municipality has been lifted , however our guards have not been lifted because this a fight we must win and in order to win this fight we must adhere strictly to the preventive measures already stated and the new ones issued by the Health sector , however this announcement will take immediate effect on Monday 1am with social distancing adhered to strictly and closely”, he announced.

The president Nana Akkufo Addo added that , however the ban on social gathering for funerals , parties, schools, churches is not lifted but persons can undergone private burials for their persons in the morgue with the standard number of people adding up to twenty five and social distancing observed to the latter, however transport unions are to maintain their low intake of passengers in order to observe the social distancing in the various public transport buses and their unions should make sure the social distancing directive is obeyed to the core .

“The three weeks ban lifted i.e we can go out our daily affairs not forgetting to strictly obey the preventive measures not to contact the virus , What we need most in this fight against this pandemic is a sense of self – discipline and also following strictly the preventive measures as we move about normally , my advice is that as we step out let’s purchase our nose masks and use them to help prevent the pandemic from spreading”, he advised.

“I stress emphatically , that coming out of the ban is not coming out of the coronavirus pandemic, areas that will come up with fast rising cases will go into lockdown and if we are hard on ourselves we will be able to help ourselves in order to make things right , and I pledge to you all that the government will do anything to protect the people and stop this pandemic and lets practice the preventive measures and the newly stated preventive measures”, he said.
